Exposed hinges are a type of cabinet hinge that is visible from the outside of the cabinet door when it is closed. Unlike concealed hinges, which are hidden from view, exposed hinges are often used for a more traditional or rustic look in kitchen cabinet design. Exposed hinges are available in a range of finishes, such as brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, and antique brass, allowing them to complement a variety of cabinet styles and colors. They are also easy to install and adjust, as they do not require special tools or equipment.
One advantage of using exposed hinges in kitchen cabinets is their durability. They are typically made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or brass, which are resistant to corrosion and wear over time. Additionally, exposed hinges offer greater accessibility than concealed hinges. If adjustments or repairs are needed, they can be made quickly and easily without having to remove the entire cabinet door. Exposed hinges are also available in a variety of styles, such as butt hinges, strap hinges, and butterfly hinges, allowing homeowners to achieve the desired look and feel for their kitchen.
One disadvantage of using exposed hinges in kitchen cabinets is their appearance. While they may be ideal for a traditional or rustic design, they may not be suitable for a more modern or contemporary kitchen. The visible hinge may also interfere with the overall aesthetics of the cabinet, drawing attention away from other design elements. Additionally, exposed hinges may be more prone to collecting dirt and dust, which can be difficult to clean without proper tools or equipment. Overall, the decision to use exposed hinges in kitchen cabinets should be based on the homeowner's personal preferences and the overall style and design of their kitchen.
